Each unit in UFO:Afterlight belongs to a race and sometimes a subrace.
Race and subrace determine basic properties such as attributes, senses, body profile, base hp, stability, recovery speed, or walking/falling sounds.
Characters[]
- Human: Protagonist of the game. Evolved on Earth and cannot survive on Mars.
- Reticulan: Also called greys because of grey skin. Delicate, big eyes, and strong in psionic.
- Martian: Green, plant link ancient Mars inhabitants thought to be extinct.
- Drone: Can be Wheeled, Walking, or Levitating.
Beastmen[]
- Beastman: Antagonist of the game. Giant, red, aggressive humanoid.
- Worm: Small wiggling worms that spit acid.
- Spider: Four legs crawling creature that seems to claw at enemies.
- Roller: A very tough ball that rolls on the ground and use deadly spike attack.
- Boss: Static creatures, unable to move that spit acid, but are unable to attack backwards. Similar to turrets.
