Some trainings, such as Earth Technology, Weapon Smith, or Suit Wearing are common and useful enough that a whole team should be trained in it. At the same time, new technologies will open up more and more advanced trainings, so it would be wise to reserve some quota for the future.
A typical game will have the people quickly level up to early tens, then slowly to late tens. Long and focused game can bring soldiers to early twenties, but without mods it is very hard to reach mid-twenties.
Training can be done in the people screen. After training points has been invested into a training, the character will need to spend time in relevant educational building to receive the training.
Once training points are spent, they cannot be recovered. Until the training process completes, the character would gain no benefits.
Current training can be paused by assigning the character to other locations, or by manually stopping it. The progress will be displayed in brackets, the points will not be returned, and training progress will slowly drops as the character forget what was learned. When a training is stopped, it is possible to invest points in new trainings, but only one training can be in progress for each character. Stopped trainings can be manually resumed, without costing training points.
This means that it is possible to manually switch trainings, usually in respond to a new technology and thus new training(s). Keep in mind that, due to building limitations, only four people of each class can be trained at the same time.
Multiclass character's training points in different classes are independent and cannot be mixed.
