In UFO: Afterlight, soldiers are either stationary (pose) or moving (movements). Poses and movements are important tactical elements, as they affects many tactical aspects.

For example, when you are running it is easy for enemies to see or hear you, and difficult for you to discover your enemy. When you are standing you can see a pretty wide angle, and when you are prone you shot at highest accuracy.

They also affect line of fire - standing often enables a soldier to shot at locations that would be blocked when prone, because the gun is higher. For example, a standing soldiers can shot over the head of a crouching soldier in front of him, but the reverse is impossible. This works both way - crouching behind a cover may blocks line of fire from an enemy, forcing it to changes its plan if it was shooting at you.

Pose switching is automatic. Order a prone soldier to run, and she will crouch up, stand up, and then run.
After she stops to a stand, she will crouch down, then lie prone, before doing the next command.

Poses Edit

When a unit stops moving, it settles into a pose, default to "stand" for all combatants. A unit must be in a pose before it can do any actions (other then movement).

Only human soldiers with Al icon training minor suit wearingMinor Suit Wearing and wearing light or medium suit can crouch and lie prone.
