Soldiers and drones have attributes which affect combat skills. As they gain level, their attributes can be raised, which then raise their skills.

Attributes and skills are measured in levels, in this order:

Pathetic >> Weak >> Average >> Good >> Outstanding >> Heroic >> Supernatural >> Divine>> Extra Divine >> Ultra Divine>>Galactic

Supernatural is the limit of what skill level can be achieved through spending points on stat after levelups. Divine to Galactic can only be achieved with the help of stimulants like Ramirezol etc...

It is better to have even attributes with preference, rather then specialised attributes, because having a few weak skills is rather fatal. Specialists are generally marked by their trainings instead of attributes and skills.

Attributes and skills only affect combat, and has no effect on scientist or technician training or activities.

Attributes[]

Attributes can be increased in the People screen. Adjusting them will show how skills will be affected.

Skills[]

Skills can generally be increased permanently through spending points on attributes. Stimulants can help raise them temporarily in battles. Some specific trainings can raise specific skills directly or indirectly, for example Major heavy device on weapons using Mechanical skill, Minor Leadership on speed, Skirmisher on knives and swords using Physical skill, etc...

When a unit use a skill that the unit does not have, for example when a human use an EM weapon that uses the EMP Strength skill, or when a Martian is attacked and need to Dodge, the skill level is usually assumed to be Average.

Some skills can be shown in number or percentage, like constitution, shooting skills or Dodge (as in reduce hit percentage). Some skills can be only shown visually, like Speed, Camouflage and Scouting . Even if target stand right there in front of your soldier, you could still take long time to notice them (from ? into visual figure), especially in higher difficulty where the highly skilled enemies are more numerous.
